HOW YOU GET TO CARNEGIE
HALL
(YOU SCROLL DOWN)
The concert was Audra
McDonald singing Broadway hits with a 30-piece orchestra.
It was my 4th appearance onstage at Carnegie,
but the first time I've played a full evening there.

When
I got to the hall, I was pleasantly surprised
to find that
I had
my own dressing room! Dressing room D, in fact.

Empty Carnegie Hall during the
afternoon rehearsal.
Voila! Sold out
Carnegie Hall at night. When I got onstage, I pulled my
timeless DL tradition
of taking pictures of the audience. I have pix of
audiences in crappy venues
dating back to college... but the view from
Carnegie's stage, you just
can't beat that.

OK, I couldn't resist.
No, I was not conducting that night. But Ted Sperling
asked me to make
sure his music was in order, so I had every right to
take the podium...
and pose for a silly picture.
My Dad,
my parents' friend Louisa, and my Mom, checking out my
dressing
room digs after the concert. Yes, my room had a Steinway
upright piano and
yes, I used it!

Mona
marvels at Tony's expert pour of the champagne
(which I
bought, thankyouverymuch).
